Senior District Judge John D. Bates issued a 20-page ruling, seen by Newsweek, ordering USPS to give the documents to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) after the postal service refused to release them under a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in 2020. CREW requested the documents pertaining to DeJoy’s potential conflicts of interest and USPS identified seven documents that fit the criteria but refused to release citing exemptions under the FOIA....

Gabbard filed the lawsuit in July 2019, alleging that the tech giant had illegally suspended ads for her fledgling presidential campaign. U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson threw out the suit Wednesday, ruling in part that Gabbard’s First Amendment rights were not violated because Google is not the government. “Google is not now, nor (to the Court’s knowledge) has it ever been, an arm of the United States government,” Wilson wrote in his decision, noting that the amendment’s free speech clause applies only in cases involving the government....

As of Friday shortly before 5 p.m. ET, FlightAware estimated 4,534 flights had been delayed. An additional 424 flights traveling within, traveling to or departing the U.S. had been canceled. Internationally, more than 23,000 flights were delayed on Friday and more than 2,600 were canceled. Flight cancellations have been on the rise in the U.S. this year. According to data FlightAware provided to Newsweek, the number of canceled flights in the first half of 2022 has already exceeded the total number of flight cancellations reported in 2021....

Donald “Kirk” Hartle admitted that he voted twice in November 2020 in a case that Republicans used to allege voter irregularities, The Associated Press reported. Hartle appeared by videoconference from his defense attorney’s office to plead guilty to a misdemeanor of voting more than once in the same election. He told Kierny he regrets his actions and accepted full responsibility for them. David Chesnoff, Hartle’s attorney, stopped Hartle from describing publicly how he voted early with a ballot mailed to his dead wife....

Judge Patrick McKinney ruled against the activist group Moms 4 Housing, in favor of the legal owner of the vacant house, real estate investment group Wedgewood Properties. The house had first been occupied by the moms in November, after it sat vacant for more than 18 months. The group responded to the ruling by calling for housing to be made a legal right in the state. “We are not surprised by the ruling,” said Moms 4 Housing’s Dominique Walker in a statement to Newsweek....

The law, passed Oct. 8, made it illegal to come within 30 feet of a vaccination site “for the purpose of obstructing, injuring, harassing, intimidating, or interfering with that person.” U.S. District Judge Dale Drozd made his ruling Saturday, issuing a restraining order that prohibits the state from enforcing the law’s harassment portion, saying the law’s “uncommon definition of ‘harassing,’” is too restrictive, according to the Associated Press. He left in place the law’s ban on obstruction, causing injuries, intimidation, or intervention during such protests, attributing to the fact that these portions “appear to more precisely target the harms that the Legislature sought to prevent and further the state’s interest in ensuring that Californians can freely access vaccination sites....
