You Have to Admire Apple’s Chutzpah Apple has subpoenaed Valve as part of its ongoing Apple vs. Epic Games antitrust case. The company argued in court filings that it needed commercial data about Steam sales as part of its legal spat with Epic Games over the App Store fees and terms of business. In court filings, Apple addresses Steam as “the dominant digital game distributor on the PC platform,” adding that Steam is “a direct competitor to the Epic Game Store....

On Monday, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins filed a temporary restraining order against the mask mandate ban from Abbott. Last month, the governor’s executive order consolidated prohibitions on mask mandates, COVID-19-related business restrictions and vaccination requirements. But District Court Judge Tonya Parker wrote in her ruling that “immediate and irreparable injury, loss, or damage will result” if Jenkins was unable to mandate COVID-19 measures....

District Judge Robert Pitman ruled Friday Gov. Abbott’s October 1 order, which reduced the number of locations where people could submit ballots during early voting, would leave vulnerable residents at increased risk of contracting COVID-19. Pitman granted a preliminary injunction against the governor’s proclamation, stopping the restrictions from being enforced. The decision followed a Thursday hearing which came after rights groups and voters launched legal action against the order....

Judge Regina Chu decided to follow standard jury instructions on most issues, and rejected proposed jury instructions about Wright’s actions during a traffic stop that led to his death at the hands of Officer Kim Potter. The defense asked Chu to add information that included how Wright did not follow commands from police officers, including Potter, the police officer who shot and killed Wright, and instead tried to escape from the police and drove a vehicle without a license....

After responding to reports of gunfire on February 24, police arrested 37-year-old Ronald Andruchuk, after finding the large stash of weapons inside his home where his wife and three children also live, the Associated Press reported. Though Judge John J. McConnell Jr. ruled Andruchuk does not pose a threat now that his weapons are taken away, the prosecution argued that the man had the means to acquire more weapons, posing a danger to his community....
