Jump Rope Challenge is a free-to-play exercise game whose aim is very simple: jump rope 100 times. Players disconnect their Joy-Cons from the base and swing them as if they’re jumping rope, and the goal of it is to reach 100 jumps and get some exercise while they’re stuck indoors, but players can raise the goal as they please. After Jump Rope Challenge’s release on June 15th, Nintendo reported that players have jumped nearly 600 million times.

The free update released yesterday and adds a number of themed costumes, new backgrounds, and the ability to double jump. The costumes are based on past Nintendo characters, including Mario characters, Link, Samus, Isabelle from Animal Crossing, and the Inklings from Splatoon. Hardcore Nintendo fans were quick to point out that even Arcade Bunny from Nintendo Badge Arcade has a skin dedicated to him.

But among the popular Mario characters, one familiar face is missing. Within the costumes are skins for Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Bowser, and even Luigi. But strangely, no Waluigi. Nintendo fans are again asking the question: What does Nintendo have against Waluigi?

The Switch has faced overwhelming success in sales during the Covid-19 pandemic, three years since its initial release. As of March, it outsold the Nintendo Wii as the highest-selling Nintendo console in Japan. For anyone still stuck in lockdown, owners of the Switch should take the Jump Rope Challenge for some adorably fun indoor exercise.

Jump Rope Challenge is available free-to-play on the Nintendo Switch.
