How To Play Wordle
Wordle is an easy-to-learn word guessing game that is played in browser. In order to play, just head to the site and start guessing. This game is currently free and doesn’t require any kind of login, but soon players will be able to track their Wordle stats with a New York Times Games login across devices. Here’s a breakdown of all the rules of the game for anyone who doesn’t know how to play.

As a quick note: since Wordle went viral and was extremely popular, tons of developers made all sorts of clones of the game. But there is only one original, and it is hosted on the New York Times Games website since the newspaper giant purchased it. Everything in this article will be about that version; other versions will have different answers and may have slightly different rules.
Head to the NYT Games website. Choose a starting word. While there are plenty of strategies for winning Wordle, a good starting word is what can make or break a player’s chances of getting to the answer. Starting words must be five-letters long, a real English word, and should have common letters in it. Type the chosen starting Wordle word into the website. Press enter. The colors of the letters of the chosen word will change colors. Letters that turn green are right, gray are wrong, and yellow are right but in the wrong place in the word. Given these clues, players have six tries to get to the right answer before they lose. Puzzles reset daily at midnight.
